“A government of tribes in Algeria: A serious issue!”

On June 4, the Kuwaiti Al-Rai Al-Aam daily carried the following report: “The past few days witnessed a very important event that might have extremely dangerous repercussions on the situation in North Africa. The “Movement for auto-independence of the tribes’ area” in Algeria announced the formation of a temporary government of tribes with the aim of “ending the injustice of the Algerian government, in addition to its despise and hegemony” over the tribes’ area. Finally, the tribes’ region in Algeria has broken its silence revealing at the same time that the Algerian game in Northern Africa, namely encouraging the separatist movement in the western desert, could bounce back against [Algeria]. In other words, as each day elapses, the Algerian politics – that are based since 1975 on blackmailing Morocco through the use of a tool called the Polisario Front- appear to be a double-bladed sword…”
