Qatar’s Quds Arabi says EU attitudes shifting towards Bashar staying in order to negotiate a solution in Syria

On September 8, the Qatari owned Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper carried the following editorial: “The statements made by French President Francois Hollande yesterday on the Islamic State being responsible for the displacement of millions of Syrians and him adding that “Al-Assad must leave at some point in time” are not practically different from earlier statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin only through an old-new rhyme that goes: “Al-Assad must accept the principle of power sharing with a constructive opposition.” This similarity in statements actually reflects a new western position, one that has received yet another supporter through the statement of the Austrian Foreign Minister on the need for the West to include Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “and its allies Iran and Russia” in order to fight the Islamic State organization followed by the statement of Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Garcia-Mar, who called for “negotiations” with the Syrian president over a “ceasefire.”…”
