Assassination in Tunis: Chokri Belaid

Our Tunis Exchange students just sat down, last month, with Chokri Belaid who was assasinated this morning near our office. We met with him and the head of the Communist Party Hama Hammami.

Egypt and Tunisia are of course where opposition to Islamists from the right and left can reach a critical mass.

One of the most interesting observations here I think: Beware of Tunisian women in these coming days, they seem to be driving the protests and their energy and anger is the vanguard that could spearhead a real tipping point in the power balance during these critical few hours and days.
