The Main Neo-LiberalCon argument on Syria: Not intervening militarily prolongs crisis and violence

David Schenker in Al-Hayat today…. these guys just cannot see how ridiculous this argument is: By NOT starting a major regional war with military intervention, Obama and others who warn of this scenario are the ones to blame for the violence continuing.

Do they ever respond to the clear arguments that now exist in English as to why the militarazation approach will be a moral and strategic catastrophe? Nope.. here he is, one of the architects of the Ceder Revolution failure:

“In this respect, David Schenker, an expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, was quoted by Al-Hayat as saying: “The absence of a leading and predominant American role in the Syrian file is surely contributing to the prolongation and the complication of the crisis.

“…Schenker, who was an official at the Department of Defense during the Administration of George W. Bush, added: “Washington is making a huge mistake by refusing to arm the Syrian opposition forces and more specifically the Free Syrian Army. Syria has clearly entered the cycle of civil war and the crisis has been militarized, whether or not Washington sends arms to the opposition forces. This is why it is in the best interest of the United States to use all the means available to it to achieve its goal, i.e. see the toppling of Al-Assad’s regime.”
