Excerpts from the Arab and Iranian Media & Analysis of US Policy in the Region

Michael Young has no plan for dealing with Syria – except to accelerate a collapse

The main problem with Young’s pronouncement here is that he has NO positive plan for dealing with Syria EXCEPT one where outside powers accelerate the collapse of the regime.

This is an extraordinarily irresponsible notion – gaining steam in the absence of a third way….

He says:

“Regional and international lethargy toward dealing with events in Syria has been irresponsible. The issue is not one of state sovereignty, but of managing as well as the international community can a smooth transition away from Assad rule. Otherwise everyone might have a splendid mess to clean up, one that stretches beyond Syria’s frontiers.”

— Sadly there is nothing smooth about Young’s non-plan…

More on this – concrete – tomorrow.
