Excerpts from the Arab and Iranian Media & Analysis of US Policy in the Region

Dont underestimate the Resistance Axis’s non-state members non-reactions to unrest in Syria

I must say I almost hear the logic and import in this (From our daily briefing today):

“…Another well informed journalist told Asharq al-Awsat that he had information saying that the Palestinian factions were asked to make statements in support of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. He added: “They asked the Palestinian factions to make public statements in support of the regime but the factions were able to face those pressures and to maneuver around the difficult stop in which they were placed.” It should be noted that Hamas has tried to adopt a middle ground position in regard to the events in Syria. In a statement issued earlier this month, the movement said: “Both the Syrian people and the Syrian leadership have always stood alongside the Palestinian resistance and they have protected this resistance, especially Hamas… What is currently taking place in Syria is a strictly internal affair and Hamas does not interfere in Syrian internal affairs.”

“This stand was considered by many as actually being a gray position and one can clearly see that the same gray attitude was adopted by the Hamas media. One should also note, that the Palestinian Authority’s official media outlets have been was following the same path in regard to the events in Syria, preferring not to cover what is going on in the country…”

— The silence has been interesting…. and it is to Hamas and Hizbullah’s credit IN A WAY that they have NOT parroted the official line…. BUT –
